YALE AND OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - November 2, 2026 - The Jim Thorpe Memorial Foundation (JTMF) and the National Native American Hall of Fame (NNAHOF) proudly announce a historic partnership, uniting two organizations committed to preserving powerful legacies, celebrating extraordinary achievements, and inspiring greatness in future generations.
Built on a shared vision of honoring the past and empowering the future, this partnership brings together two organizations whose stories and missions transcend athletics, culture, and generations. Regardless of race, creed, color, background, or profession, stories of courage, resilience, leadership, and determination have the power to inspire us all.
At the heart of this collaboration is one powerful belief: Greatness knows no boundaries.
Jim Thorpe, one of history's greatest athletes and a member of the National Native American Hall of Fame's inaugural Class of 2018, embodied these values. His legacy of overcoming adversity and breaking barriers continues to inspire generations. The Hall of Fame carries that same spirit forward by honoring remarkable Native American leaders, athletes, innovators, and trailblazers whose achievements have shaped history.
Burke Thorpe, President, Jim Thorpe Memorial Foundation:
"Jim Thorpe's legacy is about far more than athletic achievement. It is a story of courage, perseverance, and overcoming adversity. This partnership allows us to honor those who paved the way, expand our collective impact, and inspire future generations to pursue their own greatness."
Together, JTMF and NNAHOF will elevate these extraordinary stories while expanding opportunities for education, leadership, cultural awareness, recognition, and community engagement.
James Parker Shield, Founder and CEO, National Native American Hall of Fame:
"Our stories matter, and the extraordinary achievements of Native Americans deserve to be celebrated and shared with the world. By bringing together two powerful legacies, we can amplify these stories, create meaningful opportunities, and inspire people from every walk of life to recognize the greatness within themselves."
This partnership establishes a foundation for future collaborations, national opportunities, and strategic relationships that will expand awareness, strengthen communities, and inspire individuals to reach their full potential. Together, these organizations will honor those who came before us, celebrate those making an impact today, and inspire those who will shape tomorrow.
Two organizations. One shared mission. Endless possibilities.
Inspiring greatness.
